As with all businesses, managing your cost base is key. The Automotive Sector has a return of between 1-2%. Getting it wrong could lead to significant losses.

We were recently approached by a business that lists more than 100 roles on its website. The request was around 5 key roles that they hadn’t been able to fill in over 4 months. We estimate that the lost potential income missing from the group’s bottom line was above £165k (£500 a day x 5 productive x 4 months based on 22 days a month on an average Aftersales margin).

Unfortunately, we didn’t fill all 5. We’ve filled 3 with good-quality candidates. The client is delighted, it’s not all about the revenue. What about the pressure on others? The potential loss in CS income? The pressure the wider team is under? Used cars not prepped and not on sale losing £300 a month. The list goes on.

I then asked the question, Would you like support on the other 100 roles? The answer was NO. We use other agencies that have a fee structure that is slightly less than yours. If you are prepared to drop your fee, We’ll look at giving you more opportunities.
