Labour costs have driven business leaders’ confidence to a record low, according to the Institute of Directors.

Its Economic Confidence Index fell from -61 in August to -74 in September, marking the lowest reading of the index since it was introduced in 2016.

Cost expectations rose to +89 in September from +85 the previous month, and headcount expectations declined from -4 to -13. Read More
