Job Title: Manager – Business Development Management

? Location: London

About the Role

Pybus Recruitment is partnering with a fast-scaling automotive stock‑sourcing and digital trading business to appoint a high‑energy, results‑driven Manager – Business Development Management.

This role will lead, scale, and inspire a newly formed team of 5 Business Development Managers, who sit at the heart of the organisation’s dealer acquisition strategy. The team is responsible for winning, onboarding, and activating independent motor dealers and franchise dealer groups.

You will build and embed a strong “hunter” culture, drive high‑volume outreach, and ensure new partners move quickly from sign‑up to active bidding and buying. This is a senior, hands‑on leadership role within a fast‑moving, high‑growth environment.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of 5 Business Development Managers, fostering a collaborative, inclusive, high‑performance culture
  • Deliver hands‑on coaching through call listening, live pitch feedback, and structured performance reviews
  • Guide the team confidently through change and ambiguity, maintaining motivation and clarity of purpose

Impact & Results

  • Take full ownership of team productivity and performance, ensuring acquisition and early‑lifecycle “first‑buy” targets are consistently met or exceeded
  • Drive aggressive growth in buying‑platform adoption across the UK dealer network
  • Build an energising, competitive team culture that celebrates wins and learns quickly from setbacks

Structure & Strategy

  • Embed best‑practice outreach structures (phone‑first, CRM‑led processes) to maximise conversion from cold lead to active partner
  • Maintain strong automotive market awareness to help the team overcome commercial and operational objections
  • Provide strategic insight to senior stakeholders by identifying onboarding roadblocks and recommending improvements
  • Ensure consistent delivery of partner value while maximising commercial outcomes

Process & Operational Excellence

  • Identify and remove friction points in the dealer onboarding journey to accelerate time to first transaction
  • Work closely with Account Management to ensure a seamless handover of “ready‑to‑grow” accounts
  • Lead recruitment, onboarding, and ramp‑up of new team members, hiring top‑tier hunter talent

What Success Looks Like

  • Active Supply: A measurable increase in the volume of active, buying dealers on the platform
  • High‑Quality Onboarding: Strong early‑life performance that supports sustained growth post‑handover
  • Team Progression: BDMs consistently hitting targets and progressing through defined career pathways
  • Positive Culture: An energised, collaborative environment where people are motivated to grow and compete
  • Commercial Impact: Meaningful input into wider commercial strategy and overall business performance

Requirements

  • Proven experience managing sales or business development teams in a high‑volume, hunter‑led environment
  • Strong CRM capability (Salesforce, Groove, or similar), with a data‑driven approach to pipeline and performance management
  • A clear hunter mentality with a strong personal and team‑level new‑business track record
  • Confident on‑the‑floor leadership style, with the ability to work from a London office at least 3 days per week

Benefits

  • Competitive salary and commission structure
  • 28 days’ holiday, increasing with length of service, plus additional life‑event leave
  • Pension scheme with employer contributions
  • Private healthcare and life assurance
  • Mental wellbeing and coaching support
  • Enhanced parental and family-friendly policies
  • Childcare support and flexible working options
  • “Work from abroad” annual scheme
