Pybus Recruitment is partnering with a major UK automotive retail group to identify an experienced and commercially minded Used Car Director to lead and develop the group’s used vehicle operations across multiple regions throughout the UK.

This is a rare opportunity for a proven automotive leader to take ownership of a substantial used car portfolio, driving performance, profitability, stock strategy, customer experience, and operational excellence across a large-scale dealer network.

The Opportunity

Reporting directly to the Board, the successful candidate will be responsible for creating and executing the group’s used vehicle strategy, ensuring sustained growth, market competitiveness, and industry-leading performance.

This role requires a highly commercial individual with a deep understanding of the modern used vehicle marketplace, including stock acquisition, pricing strategy, digital retailing, finance penetration, margin optimisation, and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement the group’s UK-wide used vehicle strategy.
• Drive vehicle sales performance, profitability, and market share growth.
• Lead and inspire regional and dealership leadership teams.
• Optimise stock acquisition and inventory management across the business.
• Oversee pricing strategies and used vehicle forecasting.
• Maximise vehicle preparation, turnaround times, and stock ageing control.
• Work closely with OEM partners, finance providers, and key industry stakeholders.
• Identify opportunities for digital innovation and online sales growth.
• Deliver exceptional customer retention and satisfaction results.
• Analyse market trends and competitor activity to maintain a competitive advantage.
